P. Diddy becomes a billionaire and replaces Kanye West as the second richest hip-hop artist.

Forbes magazine released the list of the richest hip-hop artists, and Jay-Z is still in the lead with a net worth of $1.5 billion. Much of Jay-Z’s fortune stems from his Armand de Brignac champagne brand and Roc Nation entertainment.

Sean Diddy Combs has overtaken Kanye West on this list to become hip-hop’s new billionaire. Much of Diddy’s fortune stems from his partnership with Diageo for Ciroc, which acts as a shareholding, generating approximately $60 million a year in cash flow for Diddy. He also makes good money from his other ventures, including Tequila DeLeon (of which he owns half) and Revolt (of which he is the majority shareholder).

Kanye West recently lost his billionaire status after ending a longtime collaboration with his Yeezy brand. The rapper is currently ranked third on the list with a net worth of $500.

The surprising entry was rapper Berner, who finished in 4th place with $410 million after passing Dr. Dre. Much of Berner’s fortune stems from his Cookies hemp empire, in which he sells 70 varieties of marijuana and 2,000 different marijuana-related products through his 48 stores in seven countries and 20 US states.

Dr. Dre is fifth on the list with a net worth of $400 million. The producer/rapper’s net worth peaked at $800 million but plummeted after he paid $70 million to open a music academy at USC with Jimmy Iovine. He also gave his ex-wife about $100 in the divorce.
