In 2021, we can count more than 4000 the number of games released for the PS2. The games for this console are contained in DVDs or CD-ROMs that must be loaded each time you want to play. However, these cannot be started on a conventional computer. Fortunately, there are emulators to bypass this restriction.

Several emulators for the PS2 have been created by teams of developers. However, among the most powerful, we find PCSX2, available for Windows, Linux and Mac. Currently, the advanced score on the official emulator page is 96.66% compatibility over 2600 games tested.

For Windows, the minimum configuration is as follows:

  • Windows XP with DirectX 9.0 (10.0 recommended)

  • Dual-core processor running at 3 GHz (quad-core is recommended)
  • DirectX 9.0 compatible graphics card with 1 GB of memory (DirectX 11.0 with 4 GB recommended)

Note that the recommended values may ensure that the games run smoothly. If you still consider the minimum values, you may experience slowdown or poor display issues with some more demanding games.
