Pérez prepared Imola … on the PlayStation!

After his strong comeback in Portimao, Sergio Pérez is aware that the potential of Racing Point can allow him to play a prominent role in the Grands Prix to come.

The Mexican had brilliantly qualified fifth in the Portuguese Grand Prix, but almost lost everything when he was spun by Max Verstappen in the first lap.

Starting off last, Pérez whipped throughout the race to climb up to fifth position before giving in in the final loops to attacks from Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz, wearing cooler tires.

At Imola this weekend, with only one practice session on the program on Saturday morning, the competitors will be thrown almost unprepared in the qualifying session and Checo’s experience could work wonders in this context.

“It will be a great challenge that this format in two days, emphasizes Sergio. We all prepared for this challenge in the simulator and viewing on-board cameras, even while playing on the PlayStation! “

“Imola is a legendary track with memorable races, he recalls. I enjoy discovering unforeseen circuits and we will have to maximize the track time to get our finger on the right settings right away. “

His teammate Lance Stroll, who recently trained with a former F2 at Imola, knows the track well having raced there at the start of his career in F4 and F3.
