Phil Spencer of Xbox hasn’t given up on releasing Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox consoles. – Permanent worlds

Since its release, Final Fantasy XIV has been exclusive to PlayStation platforms in the console world, but Xbox head Phil Spencer has said in the past that he would like to see a mainstream MMO on a Microsoft console. Last week at the Tokyo Game Show, Phil Spencer confirmed that this is still the goal.

During an interview with Japan’s Game Watch (via VGC), Phil Spencer reaffirmed his desire to see the most popular MMORPG on the market on Xbox. It’s been years since we’ve heard any suggestions from Team Green about this, but Phil Spencer says he “didn’t give up” on the effort.

“Naturally, we haven’t given up yet. This is a commitment from Microsoft and Square Enix to gamers, and we will continue to coordinate our efforts,” Spencer told the publication (via VGC).

Back in 2019, Phil Spencer talked about “bringing this game to Xbox”, but he’s been pretty quiet about it ever since. Now, however, the Xbox boss is repeating those efforts, which we hope could lead to more players (and possibly more server queues) coming to the MMO if that finally happens. Spencer and Naoki Yoshida, director and producer of FFXIV, have also discussed bringing the MMO to Xbox over the years.

In 2019, Square Enix stated that Microsoft’s policy on some aspects of cross-platform play was delaying the project, stating that creating guilds or even using cross-platform chat is limited, according to an interview with WCCFTech.

It will be good if more players can experience one of the best MMORPGs on the market right now. However, be prepared for a serious controller learning curve.
