PlayStation in turn criticizes Activision Blizzard

Bad times for the Activision Blizzard studio that is embroiled in a history of sexual harassment. Interventions to request further clarification on the situation have multiplied since the beginning of the case. Today it is the turn of the PlayStation management to ask the studio that has developed games such as Call of Duty, Overwatch or Starcraft for explanations. According to information from Bloomberg relayed by The Verge, it is through the voice of his boss that PlayStation would have meant this to the management of Activision Blizzard.

A request that follows the Wall Street Journal report

According to Bloomberg, Jim Ryan, the president of PlayStation contacted Activision as soon as the Wall Street Journal article came out. He has expressed growing concern about the situation and has even reportedly called the studio to say how he plans to respond to the charges.

Bloomberg also reported that the answers given by Activision Blizzard did not really convince the head of PlayStation. He added that he had also asked Microsoft and Nintendo if they had taken the same step on their part.

It should be noted that Activision Blizzard has been in crisis for many months. It all started with a complaint filed by the State of California against the company. This exposed a culture of sexual harassment and discrimination within the company itself.

Activision Blizzard is trying to regain control

Admittedly, the study has not stood idly by since the beginning of this matter. He made some changes to show his good faith and end the controversy. These include ending forced arbitration and establishing a zero tolerance policy regarding harassment.

The CEO of Activision Blizzard for his part had to agree to cut his salary. Measures that did not calm the enthusiasm of the study’s detractors. Thus, the Wall Street Journal directly attacked Bobby Kotick, the CEO of the company.

He accuses him of being aware of the allegations of sexual misconduct and of having done nothing to solve the problem. For their part, Activision Blizzard employees weren’t angry. They observed a strike movement as soon as the Wall Street Journal report came out. While at the same time, a small part of the shareholders of the company demanded the resignation of Kotick.

The study leaders are not defeated. In a statement released Tuesday, Activision Blizzard openly attacked the Wall Street Journal report. He found that he presented a vision that was not at all that of the studio and its CEO.

Kotick, for his part, addressed his disgruntled employees in a video. The CEO could be seen reaffirming his intention to continue to apply the zero tolerance policy. Meanwhile, Mr. Kotick continues to have the support of the company’s board of directors. The latter has also released an official statement in support of it.
