PlayStation Studios: a new unit to “adapt its most popular franchises on mobile”

Nintendo has already taken the leap by bringing several of its cult licenses to mobile phones, and will continue to do so thanks to a partnership with Niantic. Other major publishers do so occasionally, whileActivision-Blizzard also intends to build on this market, with Call of Duty Mobile, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, Diablo Immortals and even more. Xbox made him the bet of cloud gaming via the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and It seems like Playstation prepare his answer.

A job offer aims to recruit a Head of Mobile, a director for a brand new division dedicated to mobiles at Playstation studios. The objective is clear and stated: to develop of “adaptations of the most popular PlayStation franchises” for iOS and Android, as part of an initial 3 to 5 year strategy.

As Head of Mobile, you will lead and develop mobile gaming strategy for PlayStation Studios and help pave the way for future growth opportunities. You will lead all aspects of our game development expansion, from consoles and PCs to mobile and live services, with a focus on adapting the most popular PlayStation franchises for mobile. You will be responsible for building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will be the head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios.

A commercial unit dedicated to mobile gaming will therefore be created at Playstation studios in the coming months, with the aim of getting out of the first experiments between 2024 and 2026. The development world being ruthless, nothing says that the project will go to the end, but the idea is now launched. What cult licenses of Playstation would you like to discover or rediscover on iOS or Android? Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, God of war, Horizon, Gran Turismo and so many others will they be adapted on mobiles? Like always, wait & see !
