OUR co-creator of Portlandia series is currently in talks with Legendary Entertainment about execute continuation from the blockbuster 2019, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. Deadline does say that Jonathan Crisell could take over directing the film from a script by Chris Galletta (Summer Kings).
Little is known about this sequel to Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. The first part was directed by Rob Letterman with Ryan Reynolds, Ken Watanabe, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton as headliners. The feature film, which was a big hit at the box office, brought in over $430 million in revenue and featured live Pokemon for the first time. If nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s possible that Ryan Reynolds (the voice of Pikachu in VO) is back in this sequel.
While waiting to learn more about the next Detective Pikachu, Netflix will soon be releasing a stop motion Pokémon series called The Pokémon Receptionist. In 2021, Variety also reported that a series set in the Pokémon universe was in development for the streaming platform, but there has been no news of the project since.
