Tortank’s stats on Pokémon Unite
First of all, let’s talk about the price of the character: 8000 coins (or 460 gems). Between the events and the weekly coins, it will therefore take you about 3 weeks to unlock Tortank if you play in free to play. Note also that all Pokémon released after the launch date of the game have the same price, we can expect to see all future arrivals cost 8000 coins.
You start the game as Squirtle. A first evolution in Carabaffe takes place at level 5 (which is relatively late), followed by a second evolution in Tortank at level 9. Try to reach these two “peaks of power” as quickly as possible!
Tortank is a defending Pokémon that has the particularity of being played more at mid-distance than in melee. Specialized in control, it is particularly useful against Pokémon that attack in melee. In addition to resisting their salvos, Tortank will repel them again and again. A fun Pokémon to play, but painful to face. In the current meta, he becomes a potentially more interesting choice than the hitherto unmistakable Snorlax.
Level notes, this is what it gives:
- Power: 2/5
- Endurance: 3.5 / 5
- Mobility: 2/5
- Scoring: 2/5
- Support: 3/5
Tortank’s attacks on Pokémon Unite
Self-attacks and Talent
Tortank sends small jets of water a good distance. The boosted base attack occurs every 3 hits. It has the effect of continuously dealing damage, slowing movement speed, and using your special attack stat.
Tortank’s (Passive) Talent on Pokémon Unite: Torrent (Natural Cure)
Simple and efficient : Torrent increases Tortank’s Attack and Special Attack stats 1.5 times when his health bar is halved or more. In short, wait until you have received a few slaps before triggering your Unite Ability.
Tortank’s basic attacks (levels 1 and 3) on Pokémon Unite
At the very beginning of the game, we advise you to take Coud’Krâne (Skull Bash). This ability being a dash, it allows you to farm more quickly, therefore to evolve more quickly. Note that Coud’Krâne always makes you go to the end of your dash by crossing all the enemies hit. The latter take some damage and are stunned (we speak of “stun”) for a very brief moment. 10 second cooldown.
At level 3, very quickly after Skull Kick, you will get the Water Gun ability. This ability is awesome. In addition to attacking from a fairly good distance, O-pistol pushes back affected opponents the entire length of the attack. Small bonus: after being splashed by your O Pistol, the enemy in front of you sees its speed decrease for a brief moment. 9 second cooldown.
Tortank’s level 5 attacks on Pokémon Unite: Hydrocannon (Hydro Pump) and Giclédo (Water Spout)
Level 5 is crucial since this is when you will evolve. At the time of your peak power, you will therefore have the choice between Hydrocanon and Giclédo to replace Pistolet à O.
Hydrocannon, is neither more nor less than an improved version of Gun to O. The attack cooldown in 0.5 seconds less (or 8.5 seconds), has a slightly greater range, and deals more damage, especially after buffing.
Giclédo is an area attack which recharges in 9 seconds. The effect is quite fun: for 3 seconds, ultra-violent rain will fall on a small circular area. In addition to damaging enemies, this rain slows them down considerably. By enhancing the attack, you only increase the damage.
Tortank’s level 7 attacks on Pokémon Unite: Surf and Quick Spin (Rapid Spin)
The oldest of you may remember Flagadoss Surf before its nerve. Tell yourself that the Surf attack when Tortank arrives is even more powerful. The idea is not very complicated: Tortank generates a huge wave on which he will slide. Upon hitting enemies, this wave deals damage while knocking them back. Obviously, as long as the Surf attack is active, Tortank enters the unmovable state. The range of this attack is so great that it exceeds your screen in height. Fortunately, it only recharges every 12 seconds as it gives Tortank enormous mobility and control of the playing field.
Instead of Surf, you can replace Coud d’Krâne with Quick Tour, a powerful attack but much more complicated to use (or “skilled” as we say). For 5 seconds, Tortank will spin around and become unmovable. This is obviously not all. While the Pokémon is spinning, all of its abilities can be used in a modified version.
– Hydrocanon throws long waves of water around Tortank which injure and push back the opponents; – Giclédo propels dozens of small jets all around Tortank, inflicting heavy damage. Be careful, to get the most out of Giclédo, you must hold down the attack button for the duration of the Quick Turn. – Using an auto-attack recharges approximately 1 second of the Quick Turn cooldown (base fixed at 11 seconds).
Improving Surf allows you to obtain a shield after hitting a target. Upgrading Quick Turn reduces damage taken while the attack is active.
Tortank’s Unite Ability on Pokémon Unite
At 9th level, Tortank gets his final form and unlocks the Hydrotyphon attack. Let’s face it, this is one of the best “ulti” in the game, very handy for finishing an Electhor or winning a team fight.
This ability causes Tortank to spin twice as he fires an overpowered water jet. Each opponent hit is propelled into the air in addition to taking heavy damage. Ah, and this attack goes over the walls.
Finally, note that it is possible to use the Leak button while Hydrotyphon is active! Don’t let the game’s more mobile Pokémon get away.
The best attacks to choose for Tortank on Pokémon Unite
Luckily, there is already an attack set selected by all the best players: Hydrocanon and Surf. Simple and efficient.
Hydrocannon is a very versatile attack if used well. It allows you to push any Pokémon towards your opponents or teammates as needed while doing great harm. Why bother with Giclédo which hardly brings more control?
For the second attack, there can be debate. In the current state of things, go on Surf before the attack suffers the wrath of rebalancing. This ability grants just too much mobility and control to be replaced.
What are the builds (items) to use for Tortank on Pokémon Unite?
The most important item to select is the Focus Band. The improved defensive stats and the health gain that the little red stripe allows are two extremely valuable bonuses on Tortank like pretty much every Pokémon in the game.
As a second item, we recommend the ” Buddy Barrier ” which gives very interesting stats without any conditions. The Buddy Barrier works great in a combo with Bliss Assistance.
For the third object, the choice is a little more free. The ” Score Shield ” will probably be our preferred option since it increases your Tank’s HP even more while allowing you to score more points at the end of the game.
There remains the object of trainer. Nothing more effective than a classic Leak Button.
