Porsche has unveiled the new Porsche Vision 357 concept car, which is a tribute to the original Porsche 356 as Porsche celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
The car is built on the same platform as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and has 500 hp. The car is on display at the special exhibition “75 Years of Porsche Sports Cars” at the Volkswagen Group “DRIVE” forum in Berlin.
Porsche kicks off its anniversary year with the Porsche Vision 357 and a reference to the Porsche 356, Ferry Porsche’s sports car dream. In deference to this, design research brings the monolithic form to the present day. Freed from the rules that apply to a production model, the Style Porsche team is demonstrating potential expressions of the design philosophy of the future: one example is the consistent refinement of a lighting signature that is both progressive and visionary in the way it points to the future. The fundamental concept reflects the interplay between tradition and innovation: what would Ferry Porsche’s dream of a sports car look like today?
“We have created a very special birthday present in the form of the Porsche Vision 357, which uses the 356 as a base to highlight our design DNA,” says Michael Mauer, Porsche Vice President Styling. “Design research is an attempt to combine the past, present and future with consistency, showing proportions that recall its historical archetype and details that visualize a vision of the future.”
