Insert a video from your computer into Powerpoint
In the “Insert” part of your PowerPoint menu, you can find a “Media” tab that allows you to import a video that is already present on your hard drive. Once you’ve embedded the file, you can resize the window it’s displayed in and even apply any style you like (frame, shadow, etc.).
Later, you can determine how the video will play during the slideshow (automatically or on click, for example). Of course, you can start “Preview” mode to run as many proofs as you like and make sure your file is ready for presentation on D-Day.
Import YouTube videos to PowerPoint
Is the video you want to show your interlocutors not on your computer, because it is content published on YouTube? Again, you don’t need to leave Powerpoint to go to YouTube during your presentation, the video can be embedded directly into your slideshow.
To do this, when you’re on YouTube, click “Share” at the bottom right of the video, then “Embed.” Then copy the code located below the part called “Embed Video”.
When inserting your video into Powerpoint, select “Online Video…” and paste the code into the “From a video website” field. You can also search YouTube without leaving Powerpoint if you want. Make sure you have an internet connection at the time of your presentation, and only take videos whose owners allow them to be shown on other media.
Change video playback options
To make your video go full screen, you can go to the “Video Tools” tab and then “Video Options” under the “Playback” tab. Then you just need to check the “Play in full screen mode” box.
In the “Video Options”, you also have the option to adjust the volume (Low, Medium, High, Mute) or run it in a loop and rewind after playback, so many useful features that you must know to master this software perfectly. .
It would be a shame to deprive yourself of videos in a Powerpoint presentation: if they can add something, just insert them into the slideshow and prepare your speech according to what you are going to show.
