
BMW has revealed some details about its nextgeneration BMW iDrive infotainment system. The automaker said the new system will be gradually rolled out to current models this year.
The new system comes with a number of new home screen features and more, the new version is the BMW 8.5 operating system and BMW is also developing version 9.
The BMW Group has reached the final stage of development of the BMW iDrive system. A new home screen with clearly organized functions makes the curved BMW display easier to use. The QuickSelect system concept additionally offers an improved menu structure borrowed from consumer electronics devices. The new BMW iDrive plays a unique role in delivering purposeful and confident driving by putting the right information in the right place. The new BMW iDrive system will be gradually implemented in current models1)2) during 2023.
“Today, BMW iDrive is more than just a control and operation system – it is a digital world of experience that allows people and vehicles to interact and share information,” said Stefan Durac, Senior Vice President, BMW Group Connected Company Development. “As we announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2023, we are constantly improving the user experience based on the latest technology available.” This results in a wider offer of digital content for information and entertainment, shorter feature update cycles, better information about electric vehicle charging points, and improved access to a host of specific online services.
