Frontier Developments, the Cambridge-based development studio founded in 1994, presents a new development diary for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, the new expansion for one of the most ambitious and important “space” games of recent times.
In this third installment of the development logs, called The sphere of combat, we can see Piers Jackson, Jonathan Bottone, Gareth Hughes, Samantha Marsh, Joe Hogan, Dylan Vadamootoo and Felix Ilsley (several of the main people behind this expansion) talking about the new combat mechanics Elite Dangerous: Odyssey which will have a tactical environment in which commanders, vehicles and spaceships will converge in different layers and we will discover some of the weapons present in the extension.
“The Sphere of Combat demonstrates, above all, a huge change in the gameplay of Elite Dangerous, showing how commanders will be able to choose from a wide selection of weapons suitable for each type of enemy. These new weapons range from assault rifles, shotguns or SMGs to heavy weapons to take down spaceships, each can inflict some kinetic or explosive thermal damage and offer different advantages and disadvantages, ”they comment from Frontier.
Early 2021 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is the the most ambitious upgrade for Elite Dangerous because it allows us to explore on foot each of the planets that we find in our space adventure as well as to lead different types of new missions and to face each other in advanced combat, subject on which this development diary has focused .
The expansion reaches the early 2021 for PC and PS4 and Xbox One.
