PS5: Special Edition DualSense Controller Shipped to Employees

PlayStation employees were surprised to receive a special version of the DualSense. This controller was sent by the company to “celebrate a fantastic 2022”. However, it is not for sale.

PlayStation has prepared a special version of the DualSense controller for PS5. This controller is celebrating a “fantastic 2022” but is out of stock. It was made exclusively as a gift to PlayStation employees. This isn’t the first time Sony has reserved a special edition of the DualSense for its employees. In 2021, employees received a gorgeous golden controller that made players blush with envy.

Aaron Jason Espinoza, Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager, shared some images of the DualSense Special Edition he received from PlayStation. Insomniac Games is a development studio known for its PlayStation exclusives such as Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank. In 2019, Sony acquired Insomniac Games for $229 million.

This special edition DualSense is a reference to the old PlayStation controllers.

As you can see in the images below, this special edition DualSense comes in a 2022 holiday box. The controller is finished in the same white color as the standard edition sold to gamers. The main difference is that it features dozens of small, colorful PlayStation symbols: squares, circles, triangles, and crosses.

This controller is definitely a reference to the old PlayStation controllers with colored buttons. The DualSense is actually the first PlayStation controller with white buttons. By the way, the new DualSense Edge, designed for gamers, has black buttons that contrast with the white body color.

On the back of the controller, we can read the PlayStation slogan “The game has no limits” with the words 2022. This special edition DualSense also comes with a 2022 stand to keep it upright. Many gamers would obviously like to get their hands on this dedicated controller, but PlayStation has no plans to sell it to the general public. However, there is no doubt that some of these controllers will make their way to sales sites over time.
