When released, thanks to a patch, the next Ratchet & Clank can be played in three ways like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Here are the details of the modes.
Remember the onion treatment for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales with 4K 60fps, 60fps with ray-tracing, and 4K 30fps? Insomniac Games’ next game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be housed in the same boat with 3 graphics modes:
- Fashion “Quality“: 4K 30fps + ray tracing
- Fashion “Performance“: 4K 60fps
- Fashion “RT performance“: 4K 60fps + RT
The technicians reproduced the previous diagram: a basic dynamic resolution, then intervenes the temporal injection to achieve a 4K image. For example, on Miles Morales or Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Digital Foundry saw a minimum of 1080p (for the lower resolution), but games were instead around 1440p the vast majority of the time to reach 4K afterwards. .
All three modes use a dynamic base resolution that then goes through our temporal injection process to achieve a 4K image. This is similar to how # MilesMoralesPS5 works.

Obviously, concessions are made here and there. In the case of Spidey, it could be in terms of the quality of reflections or the density of pedestrians, among others.
