Right to disconnect: Quebec must do the same with Ontario, according to QS

Quebec – Inspired by Ontario, Quebec solidaire returns to office on the right to disconnect.

The party introduces a new bill on the “right to disconnect”, that is, the right of an employee not to respond to messages and communications from his employer outside of working hours.

In October, the Ontario government introduced a bill that recognizes this right in companies with 25 or more employees.

QS Labor spokesman Alexandre Leduc believes this is a hot topic, due to teleworking that emerged during the pandemic, but also to mental health issues.

Québec solidaire had already presented a similar bill in June 2020. It established that each employer had to establish a disconnection policy applicable to all its employees.
