Russia Extends Twitter Retaliation Until May 15

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia announced on Monday that it would extend its retaliatory measures of slowing down the flow of Twitter by one month until May 15, even though it acknowledges that the American social network has accelerated the removal of prohibited content.

Moscow decided last month to slow down access to the network and threatened to block the American “micro-blogging” site altogether if it persisted in not removing the content in question.

The public communications watchdog Roskomnadzor admitted, however, on Monday that Twitter had stepped up the pace of deleting the targeted tweets.
