Russo Brothers to Lead FTX Crypto Scandal Limited Series for Prime Video – GameSpot

Recently, the crypto world and the international financial markets in general were swept by shock waves when news broke of the rapid collapse of FTX, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Given the massive loss of customer money, the FTX collapse was one of the biggest financial scandals of our time, and it’s no surprise that Hollywood is ready to take part in this fiasco. According to a Variety report, Prime Video is developing a script for a series about the FTX explosion, with the Russo brothers and David Weil (Hunters) collaborating on production.

Weil will provide a pilot script for the show, which is currently packaged as an eight-part series, with Joe and Anthony Russo going off camera to helm the project as directors. In addition, the trio will serve as executive producers. While nothing is known about what arc the series will take, however, reports indicate that it may be inspired by insider reports from journalists who have been following the now-defunct company over the years since its inception in 2019. perhaps some familiar Marvel actors who have collaborated with Russo in the past will be preferred for key roles.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue our excellent working relationship with David, Joe, Anthony and the AGBO team through this exciting series of events,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “I can’t think of a better partner to bring this multifaceted story to our global Prime Video audience.” The as-yet-untitled project will reunite Russo with Vail as well as expand their relationship with Prime Video following their recent collaboration on the yet-to-be-released spy drama The Citadel, which is building with franchise potential.

The FTX saga has dominated the financial headlines as ongoing investigations have already uncovered internal irregularities at a company owned by the enigmatic Sam Bankman Freed, aka SBF, who has now filed for bankruptcy protection. “This is one of the most brazen scams ever committed,” the Russo brothers said in a statement. “It touches on many sectors: celebrities, politics, science, technology, crime, sex, drugs and the future of modern finance. At the center of it all is an extremely enigmatic character with complex and potentially dangerous motives. We want to understand why.

The Russo limited series looks set to be one of the many on-screen treatments the infamous scandal will receive. Deadline recently reported that Apple TV is bidding for the rights to an unpublished book by author Michel Lewis in which he describes his findings on the beleaguered SBK. In addition, the successful non-fiction studio XTR is producing the documentary FTX, directed by Oscar-nominated director David Darg.

The FTX series will be produced by Roussos’ production company AGBO, with Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Ottot and Scott Noble joining the executive producing team along with Natalie Lane Williams. Production of the FTX series is expected to begin next spring. Stay tuned to GameSpot for details on the project as they become available.
