Samsung Galaxy S23 release date just set for February – here’s what we know

The latest Samsung Galaxy S23 rumor may have shown when we see the next generation of the best Android phone. And that could match the release of the Galaxy S22 earlier this year.

Report from SamMobile (will open in a new tab) indicates that the battery for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is registered with the Korean Security Service. (will open in a new tab). This agency certifies batteries in South Korea and their database does show a battery certified as of September 6th. The model number suggests it will be used with the SM-S916B, which is rumored to be the model number of the Galaxy S23 Plus, probably a mid-range phone. in a trio of Samsung releases next year.

Based on historical trends, this now indicates that the Galaxy S23 lineup could arrive in February 2023. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus battery was similarly certified in September 2021 and released in February this year.

Given that the Galaxy S22 Plus debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, it would be logical to expect Samsung to follow suit by releasing the rumored Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at the same time.

Unfortunately, the image of the battery itself is rather blurry, so we cannot determine the capacity of the battery. The battery is manufactured by Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, which also made batteries for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, it is difficult to draw any conclusions based on this connection.

All we can do is hope the battery improves over the Samsung Galaxy S22 range, as battery life isn’t impressive on most models. Unfortunately, we may be out of luck here, as current rumors suggest that the battery size may remain the same – at least for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Of course, Samsung may use a different manufacturer for the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus than the S23 Ultra, but we have no indication of one or the other. However, it would be strange if Samsung added battery life to its low-end models rather than its flagship.

Aside from the battery, we have a couple of other rumors about next year’s Samsung flagship. Samsung is expected to ditch the Exynos chipset in favor of the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset across the entire Galaxy S23 lineup. Previously, Samsung used different chips in different regions.

There are also rumors that the Galaxy S23 Ultra may get a 200-megapixel camera. The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s current main camera is a massive 108MP sensor, which is already inferior to the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 48MP main camera, at least in terms of megapixels.

However, despite its sheer size, the iPhone 14 Pro Max now tops our list of the best camera phones, so maybe Samsung needs to step up if it wants to get ahead of Apple or the Google Pixel 6 Pro. In fact, make it the Google Pixel 7 Pro – Google is expected to unveil its next line of smartphones at an event on October 6, long before the Galaxy S23’s launch in early February.
