Savannah animals, princess crown, unicorn or PlayStation 5 controller, the themes of Youssra Robai cake decorations are varied. Since she started baking, this resident of Congis-sur-Thérouanne (Seine-et-Marne) has sought to innovate both in terms of appearance and taste.
It was during the confinement that Youssra Robai began creating cakes. “I got pregnant just before delivery. Then, the confinement came and since I was working in the hotel industry, I couldn’t go back to work, he explains. But after a while, financially, things went wrong. So I wanted to do a job from home ”.
Then he got the idea to start baking cakes and started watching tutorials on the internet. “At first, the taste was good, but the visual was not very good,” he acknowledges. After many tests, and thanks to the wise advice of the rest of his family who tasted each of his creations, he progressed little by little. “For example, I saw that when using this or that butter, it gave a different result. And by dint of working I learned the techniques ”.

Today, he takes two to three orders per week.
A real investment
To bake its cakes, the Congissoise takes advantage of the short moments it has free. During the day, she takes care of her little one and therefore cannot bake. Therefore, when night falls, two afternoons a week, he dedicates himself to this activity. “I work from 9 at night until 6 in the morning,” he explains. Those nights I don’t sleep much ”. Receive orders during the week and deliver your creations on weekends.

“People give me perfume and I work on decoration. Or they just have an idea for a topic and they give me carte blanche, or they have a very precise idea of what they want from a model ”, he explains. Then the pastry chef delivers her cakes all over the Ile-de-France, trying to avoid Paris, so as not to waste too much time in traffic jams.
When her daughter is enrolled in kindergarten, Youssra Robai would like to continue baking full-time instead of going back to her previous activity. “I appreciate being able to work from home and choose my work schedule,” he explains.
