SEO: illustration puzzle

You don’t judge a book by its cover. But in the world of SEO, text without an illustration will not have the same impact on readers as short text with a beautiful image.

Some niches cannot do without illustrations: these are sites about cooking, travel, beauty, etc.

Similarly, content shared on social media has been shown to provide better sharing and virality when accompanied by a photo. However, you can have a very beautiful pen and be a rude jerk with a camera. So how do you find great illustrations?

Image banks and photo aggregators

First step: Check out free images or Creative Commons image banks. Depending on the subject, this may be enough to gain happiness. Of course, you must correctly name the images and respect the Creative Commons licenses. This means that you must set up your site in such a way that you can credit the original author.

You can try your luck on Pixabay, Flickr, and AllTheFreeStock. It is a kind of search engine for all image and video banks offering free content.

Unfortunately, you won’t always find what you’re looking for in free image banks or on Creative Commons. Sometimes a niche is too specialized.

Another possibility: online image banks such as Alarmy or ShutterStock. Problem: images are paid and relatively expensive. Again, there is mutual access to this type of service. You can get away with it for a few euros.

Create your own illustrations
