Silicon Motion MonTitan PCIe Gen5x4 User Programmable Solid State Drive

This week, Silicon Motion unveiled its latest creation, the MonTitan PCIe Gen5x4 UserProgrammable Solid State Drive, featuring an allnew customdesigned ASIC and FW architecture. MonTitan was created to provide users with a high performance PCIe Gen5 programmable platform using the 3rd generation Silicon Motion NVMe controller.

The MonTitan SM8366 ASIC is a dualport PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe controller with 16 lanes supporting speeds up to 2400MT/s. The SM8366 provides fast sequential (>14Gb/s) and random (>3.0M IOPS) 4K solid state storage and includes a scalable single/dual channel 40bit DDR43200 / DDR54800 DRAM interface.

MonTitan SSD uses patented Silicon Motion technology:

– PerformaShape provides ASICbased QoS sets using hardware isolation to maximize bandwidth performance while maximizing userdefined individual performance elements (QOS, latency, RR/RW, power).
– NANDCommand maximizes enterprise nextgeneration NAND geometry performance with exceptional LDPC error correction and reliability improvements for QLC and beyond.
