SNCF Connect: the unique mobile app and website for next January

The SNCF Connect app and website should see the light of day in January. A duo that should allow you to see the available trains, but also the other available modes of transport. And that it should replace certain current SNCF online services.

Because SNCF’s main concern is to simplify its digital offering. Until now, sites and applications such as or the SNCF Assistant made it a bit difficult to have good visibility of everything that SNCF offers. Therefore, the idea is to create a unique door.

In detail, users will be able to find the route search, purchase of tickets (TGV INOUI, OUIGO, Intercités, TER, Thalys, Eurostar, TGV Lyria, public transport in Ile-de-France including Transilien), subscriptions, real-time information of the passenger, as well as changes and cancellations.

MaaS and the cloud

The company specifies that “ customers will find their current reservations on SNCF Connect using their My SNCF Identifier customer account.” Please note that SNCF Connect will not replace the OUIGO or TGV INOUI PRO app. SNCF Connect will manage OUIGO trips, the OUIGO and TGV INOUI PRO applications will remain available.

From the perspective of MaaS (Mobility as a Service), the service will also show the availability of other modes of transport: long-distance bus, carpooling, scooter, taxi or even VTC.

This new digital service is designed by the subsidiary e.Voyageurs SNCF and developed around cloud technologies. SNCF Connect was developed in less than a year by 200 people, emphasizes SNCF. The mobile app was developed with Flutter, Google’s cross-platform interface framework. According to the group, the use of this technology on this scale is unprecedented in France.

Change at all levels for the SNCF

SNCF’s digital transformation is also related to single transport tickets. In early November, the company announced that next-generation train tickets would carry a QR code. Thinner than before, they get confused with bill receipts.

However, this new SNCF ticket will not be accessible everywhere, as agents at the counters will continue to issue cardboard tickets to travelers. Therefore, this new ticket will only affect 5% of purchases, since regional trains such as TERs are not yet included in the system.
