Solana: $8 million stolen after hack

About 8,000 wallets were subjected to a massive attack on one of the largest crypto ecosystems.

Solana is confused. The blockchain has confirmed a large-scale attack on its system, as a result of which almost 8,000 virtual wallets (wallets) were transferred. In total, the amount of theft is estimated at $ 8 million, according to TechCrunch.

Solana, one of the most popular platforms and a direct competitor to Ethereum, indicated that a vulnerability in the Slope online wallet related to the blockchain was exploited for this major hack.

Slope said in a statement that “internal investigations and reviews are actively underway” to try to understand what happened. It is reported that hacker attacks also touched ghost wallets. According to Solana, the attack did not affect the blockchain itself.

Repeated crashes

This is not the first attack on the Solana ecosystem. In early July, the Crema Finance protocol, also hosted on Solana, was the victim of an $8.7 million hack.

Breakdowns have also been linked in recent months. The last one was at the beginning of June, when trading was stopped for several hours. Solana, a cryptocurrency with the same name as the platform, then unscrewed by 12%. This cryptocurrency is in the top 10 largest cryptocurrencies by capitalization according to Coinmarketcap, showing a capitalization of 13 billion.

After recovering at the end of July, the solana fell again and settled at $38 on Thursday against $224 in November 2021 at its highest level.
