Some environmentalists are unfortunately ‘inhumane’: Elon Musk

San Francisco, Aug 27 (IANS) – Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday criticized some environmentalists for being “inhuman” when it comes to boosting the production of nuclear power that could replace fossil fuels in the future.

In his tweet, Musk said that countries should increase the production of nuclear energy.

“Closing them makes no sense from a national security standpoint and is bad for the environment,” Musk said.

A follower on Twitter responded that nuclear energy is clean, efficient and could completely replace fossil fuels if adopted, but it’s not happening “because the so-called environmentalists don’t support it.”

Musk wrote: “Some (environmentalists) are really, unfortunately, anti-human.”

A proponent of clean energy, he has repeatedly said that branding nuclear power is a mistake, especially as renewable energy sources such as solar and batteries continue to grow.

In July of this year, he said: “Actually, I am also a supporter of atomic energy.”

“I think nuclear power has a bad reputation. In my opinion, people should not close nuclear power plants unless they are in a place prone to natural disasters. In that case, you realize you can’t just say, “We’re just waiting for the real thing, but once in a century,” he said during an interview for the “Getting Stoned” podcast.

“Like the situation in Fukushima. Well, you know, there are a lot of tsunamis and stuff, so it’s probably not good to have nuclear power where natural disasters happen. But, for example, in places like France or Germany, and in many parts of the United States, there really is no significant risk of natural disasters that could affect nuclear power plants. So in that case, we should not close them, ”Musk said.

Efforts to shut down the nuclear power plant are “crazy” and “crazy,” he said.
