PS5 will soon celebrate its second anniversary

It’s been almost two years since the PS5 was released worldwide. Consoles are starting to invest more and more houses and accommodate more and more exclusives. 2023 is set to be the year the console proves to be truly indispensable with more PS5-only games.

And so, with more beautiful graphics than ever. 2023 should also be marked by the arrival of the new PS5 model. This console will have a removable CD player, the first ever Sony home console.

PS5 with removable CD player in 2023?

According to Insider Gaming, Sony is developing a new PS5 model. It will have a removable CD player connected to the console via USB-C. So one could buy a package that includes a console with a drive, just a machine, or just a drive. This PS5 will also be thinner and lighter. According to an article by Tom Henderson, the model will be launched in 2023.

This information should be taken with a pinch of salt pending possible confirmation from Sony. This hybrid model, halfway between the digital version and the PS5 fixed reader version, should find its audience. Being able to buy a cheaper PS5 with the ability to get a CD player when you need it would be pretty groundbreaking. Will the PS5 Pro offer a similar feature upon release?
