This morning, Masahiro Sakurai unveiled the 82nd and last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter: This is none other than Sora, the hero of the Kingdom Hearts series!
The character thus joins other video game icons such as Sonic, Cloud, Banjo, and Mega Man from third-party Nintendo franchises. The cast of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate couldn’t be more broken and it ended on a high note with Sora.
Masahiro Sakurai, in charge of the development of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has announced that Sora will be available from October 18 in Challenger Pack 11. For fans, this is good news and bad. Good, because the Kingdom Hearts series is very popular and will eventually be immortalized in the Smash Bros. universe. Bad, because the last fighter recruited is yet another swordsman, as there are too many in the game.
In fact, Sora wields the Keyblade, a magical key-shaped “sword” to defeat the Heartless. Through his passage through Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the character will be entitled to a variety of costumes drawn from the games Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dread Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 3.
According to Mr. Sakurai, Sora is a fighter whose handling is quite simple and accessible. It excels in aerial combat because of its light weight and incredible flexibility, to the point that it gives the impression of floating. All of Sora’s moves are inspired by Kingdom Hearts, be it his melee hits with the Keyblade or his Final Fantasy-style magic from Firaga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga.
You can buy Sora in two ways: only with the DLC Challenger Pack 11 ($ 7.55) or with the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 ($ 37.79) which also includes Min Min, Steve & Alex, Sephiroth, Pyra & Mythra and Kazuya. In both cases, in addition to the fighter, you will be entitled to an additional level (Hollow Bastion) and nine songs from the Kingdom Hearts games:
- Fate night
- Force of destiny
- Covering the dark cloud
- Hand to hand
- Takeoff! Gummi II Boat
- Hollow bastion
- Joke in the night
- Shards of pain
- Wake up
