Space Channel 5 will receive a film adaptation from Sega

It was recently announced that Sega Corp. will join the first producer of the new film adaptation of the classic video game SpaceChannel 5. The Sega classic was a musical game about Ulala, a journalist who battled villains with the power of dance in a futuristic 1960s-style setting.

Details have also been given about the film’s plot, which follows a hapless fast food worker who is recruited by a journalist sent from the future to stop aliens from destroying the world, which can only be stopped by modern viral dances. It is not yet clear whether this film will be live-action or animated.

The film adaptation of Space Channel 5 will be written by Barry Battles Da Nir Paniri, who will try to take the central concept of the game and integrate it into popular social networks like TikTok, a formula that is perfect for today. . It has not yet been decided who will be the producer of the next project.

Sega seems to want to adapt its classic video game titles after the great success of the two films “Sonic the Hedgehog”, the company’s protagonist. It also became known that another feature film based on the game, ComixZone, is in production. The first Sonic movie managed to gross $319 million worldwide, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 surpassed its goal with a total of $402.4 million. The third part will be released in theaters in December 2024.

Space Channel 5 was originally released on the Dreamcast, a console created by Sega. In 2003, the game became available for the Play Station 2 and Game Boy Advance. Two sequels, “Space Channel 5: Part 2” and “Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash”, were eventually released in 2003 and 2020, respectively, with a VR version available for PlayStation VR, Oculus Quest, and SteamVR .

As of now, Space Channel 5 does not have a release date or release details.
