SpaceX and Tesla: Elon Musk wants to create a city reserved for his employees

At least we can say that Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter, is not without ambition. Now the billionaire wants to build a city dedicated to his employees.

This isn’t the first time Elon Musk has seen big things. The richest man in the world is really planning to create a city called “Starbase” and launch rockets from it. But this time around, the quirky billionaire has an ambition to build a small town designed to house the employees of SpaceX, Tesla, and The Boring Company.

Elon Musk is not always kind to his employees. Since the billionaire acquisition of Twitter, the company has also made massive layoffs. Worse, earlier this month one of the employees reportedly asked him if he had been fired. Elon Musk publicly ridiculed a man. Yet the capricious entrepreneur seems to want to pamper his employees by building a comfortable city for them.

Elon Musk: houses under $1,000 a month

The proposed city, which would be located near Austin, Texas, could be called Snailbrook. A recent report reveals plans to build 110 homes near Boring Company and SpaceX facilities in Bastrop County. Employees of The Boring Company were asked last year to apply for early housing.

And if Elon Musk finds himself in a double win by charging rent directly from the wages of his employees, they will be in a privileged position. Indeed, the cost of renting a house with two or three bedrooms in Snailbrook will be $800 per month. By comparison, the median rent in nearby Bastrop is around $2,200 a month.

Employees will have 30 days to leave home if they are fired or if they leave the company. The report indicates that Elon Musk has already acquired about 15,000 hectares of land for the construction of his city. He may even have his own private school, which can accommodate about fifteen students.
