SpaceX is preparing to send civilians into space

SpaceX continues its development in the field of space tourism. Elon Musk’s company is currently working on its new Polaris Dawn project, in which civilians will go into outer space, Numerama reports.

This is the first mission of the Polaris program with many ambitions. The civilians involved in this unprecedented mission obviously need special training. It began in early May with the fitting of the costumes they would wear aboard the Crew Dragon capsule.

A very controlled walk

Preparations for the spacewalk itself began in early September. During this flight, only two of the four amateur astronauts will go into space, remaining permanently attached to the space capsule. During this spacewalk, Crew Dragon will be at an altitude of about 500 km. The launch is scheduled for the end of 2022.

Since the beginning of space exploration, hundreds of spacewalks have already taken place without any dramatic results. The Polaris program typically culminates in the first manned flight of the Starship, the first fully reusable vehicle designed to carry crew and equipment into space.
