Splatoon 3 is already shaping up to be another hit for Nintendo. Having sold 3.45 million copies since Friday in Japan alone, Splatoon 3 was the best Switch game launch in Japan. This is big news.
This figure includes both digital and physical sales. It’s certainly a great start, and the triquel is a Switch exclusive. Even though the game also tops the UK box charts, overall sales at launch are down 9% from Splatoon 2, according to Eurogamer. However, only physical games are included in the UK box chart, so it’s entirely possible that there is no recession when digital games are taken into account. Nothing is known about how Splatoon 3 currently performs in the US, but it usually follows trends in the UK.
“Nintendo Co., LTD… announced that domestic sales of Splatoon 3 for the Nintendo Switch system exceeded 3.45 million units in the first three days of launch on September 9, 2022,” Nintendo said in a press release. “This is the highest domestic sales for any Nintendo software in the first three days.”
Splatoon 3 is a fan favorite and those numbers will only grow as more players discover the game.
