Officially released again in July 2020, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a highly anticipated title for gamers. The FPS has experienced many setbacks, and its Ukraine-based studio, GSC Game World, has clearly suffered from the conflict with Russia. Although last March it announced a pause in the development of the game, and later on its postponement to 2023, today Microsoft seems to be taking action.
Canceled pre-orders[Mise à Jour 12/09/2022] Following the refund from Xbox, the developers of STALKER 2 told PCGamer that the refund for the game does not mean a further delay. The release of the game is still scheduled for 2023.
“We had to postpone the game to 2023, there is no exact release date yet. We made the announcement at Microsoft E3 along with a dev diary and introductory video. Microsoft refunds pre-orders when games don’t have an exact release date. When we announce the exact release date later, pre-orders will be available for Xbox again. PC pre-orders (Steam, EGS, GOG) are not affected. »
According to information from Xgp.pl, Xbox has begun sending messages to players about the cancellation of their pre-order for the game, for reasons cited in the postponement to an unknown date of the title, the future of which still seems to be highly compromised.
Thank you for pre-ordering STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. This title’s availability date has been pushed back to an unconfirmed date in the future. Due to this change, we have canceled your pre-order and refunded your payment. Stay tuned for information on the future release date of this game on Xbox.com.
Last May, the studio revealed that development had resumed after moving to Prague. We don’t know how things are today, but obviously we wish the teams good luck.
Remember, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl needs to be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, as well as directly on Xbox Game Pass.
