State of play – PlayStation flexes its muscles

What a day. After a particularly exuberant Nintendo Direct, here’s a PlayStation drawing State of Play out of nowhere. While everyone was speculating about the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, Sony opted for a more low-key atmosphere for announcing future games for its machine. But silence does not mean modestly, because, as we will see, the Japanese firm sent a lot.

tekken 8

You only need to see the first trailer to be convinced of this State of Play. Looking better than ever, Tekken 8 is coming to PS5 soon. We discover a clash between Jin and Kazuya in the pouring rain, the pumped up muscles of the fighters sublimated by the game engine. With Street Fighters 6 due for release in 2023, the two best enemies of the fighting game scene will very soon be reunited again, for our greatest enjoyment.

While still on the side of Bandai Namco, we were able to discover Synduality, a third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world in which we have to collect resources. Then we will be asked to carry out missions in cooperation or against other players, accompanied by a randomly discovered artificial intelligence that will help us throughout the adventure. Synduality is expected to hit next-gen consoles and PC in 2023.

Like a dragon: Ishin!

In recent years, the Yakuza series has been on the rise. After the diptych Judgment and Lost Judgment and especially the excellent Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ryu Ga Gotoku studio this time offers us the opportunity to discover, in a remastered version, an episode that never crossed the borders of the archipelago. Yakuza Ishin!, renamed for Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a spin-off from the main saga set in the time of the samurai. Scheduled for PS4 and PS5, as well as Xbox and PC, the game will arrive in our regions in February 2023.

Project Eva Starblade

Although Project Eve already caught our attention during its first presentation last year, it has benefited from a beautiful new presentation during this game state. The developers of the Korean studio SHIFT UP Corporation also took the opportunity to reveal the real name of their offspring: Stellar Blade. This Bayonetta-like Beat ’em Up continues to inspire us, but we’ll still have to be patient as it only has the 2023 wave as its exit window at the moment.

Ronin uprising

Team Ninja teams have their own jobs. After offering us the rather sweet Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin at the beginning of the year, and while they’re in the middle of developing the highly anticipated Nioh 3 Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (expected in 2023), here they are revealing the existence of a new IP: Rise of the Ronin. As the title suggests, we’ll bring Ronin to Japan in 1863 in an action game on the border between Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro. It’s very tough for this PS5 exclusive scheduled for 2024.

God of War: Ragnarok

Finally, as a cherry on the cake, a new trailer for God of War: Ragnarok has been released. A beautiful gameplay sequence that allows us to see new enemies and monstrous bosses. All this in a musical atmosphere as crazy as it gets in the 2018 episode. And what about the teaser confrontation between Kratos and Thor at the conclusion of the trailer.

An impressive video that includes several episodes of Atreus echo passages that Kratos experienced during the previous opus. Let’s imagine handing over the baton to a Spartan’s little son, or even a part of an adventure that can be played in his company. We’ll be set in less than two months as the game releases on PS4 and PS5 on November 9th.

The PlayStation is finally showing off the muscle, and a lot of games have finally gone completely to the next level. And it shows. 2023 will finally be the year of new game consoles, it was about time. It’s a pity, however, that during this state of the game, publishers weren’t very precise about release dates for their products, most of them happy with a not-so-exciting 2023.

Therefore, the day is marked with a white stone. Between the announcement of the title and release date of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and this new God of War trailer, these are two of the most anticipated games in the next few months that have shown a bit more. Let’s just say, this year’s trough of video game waves seems to be far behind us, and now we’re in for a tidal wave of games for our greatest enjoyment.
