Well established in the market thanks to its headsets, keyboards, mice, controllers and induction mats, SteelSeries continues its development with the announcement of a takeover.
Indeed, the device manufacturer announces having acquired the company KontrolFreek, which essentially offers cables, controllers and sticks in a competitive optics. According to information from GamesIndustry, the firm created in Atlanta in 2009 has a community of four million members, entitled FreekNation. The amount of the transaction is not known, but the CEOs of both companies have already spoken:
This is a huge milestone for us (…). As we continue our mission to improve the game globally, it made perfect sense to partner with SteelSeries to take the two brands to the next level, says Ashish Mistry, CEO of KontrolFreek.
With the next generation consoles at the forefront of the video game industry, there has been no better time to maximize our ability to deliver the best experiences and products to console gamers. With KontrolFreek’s expertise and worldwide popularity, we know this will open up new opportunities to entertain, satisfy and support new players around the world, says SteelSeries CEO Ehtisham Rabbani.
