Tesla boss Elon Musk announced in a tweet that the electric car maker would ultimately not be producing its super-fast luxury model Plaid +, because the lower version Plaid “is just as good.”
In a tweet on Sunday, Elon Musk announced: “The Plaid + is canceled. No need, since the Plaid is just as good ”.
The Plaid +, the super-fast version of the Model S Plaid, which was to be priced at US $ 150,000, was supposed to have a maximum range of 830 km and accelerate from 0 km to 96 km / h in two seconds.
The model below, the Plaid, whose marketing has already been postponed by a week to June 10 and which should cost around US $ 120,000, has a maximum range of 624 km. It is also capable of accelerating to 60 mph in two seconds, says Elon Musk.
“From 0 to 60 mph (96 km / h) under 2 seconds. The fastest produced car of this type. You have to feel it to believe it, ”said the boss of Tesla in a tweet.
Like other automakers, Tesla is grappling with the global shortage of components, especially micro-processors, and the bottlenecks that plague the production line of many electronic equipment.
Tesla’s title fell on Wall Street, losing 1.30% to $ 591 around 10 a.m.
