A few weeks ago, Elon Musk announced that it would soon be possible to buy a Tesla with bitcoins. That day has finally arrived, at least for American buyers.

Tesla switches to bitcoin payment

The businessman posted on Twitter that the company accepts cryptocurrency as a form of payment, adding: “bitcoins used to buy a Tesla will be kept as bitcoins and will not be converted into fiat currency. The payment page now includes a Bitcoin box for paying a deposit. The $ 100 deposit for the reservation converts to approximately 0.001 837 6 BTC.

At the current price, it takes 0.81 bitcoin to afford a Tesla Model 3 at $ 45,300. Remember that bitcoin is a virtual currency that is always very volatile, so it can change quite quickly.

Last month, Tesla invested $ 1.5 billion in bitcoin, which sent the price up 13%. While Elon Musk has spoken out on cryptocurrency on several occasions, he has never suggested that Tesla will accept other cryptocurrencies in the future.
