Tesla: second employee files complaint for sexual harassment at work

Erica Cloud, a Tesla assembly line employee, accuses her former manager of sexual harassment, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in Alameda County, California Superior Court.

In recent weeks, two sexual assault cases involving Tesla employees have been brought to court. Both lawsuits allege that the work environment at the Tesla plant in the United States is “hostile” to women.

Consumers aren’t the only ones complaining about the American automaker. Fremont factory assembly line worker Erica Cloud filed a lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court this week, alleging “ongoing and pervasive” sexual harassment. Erica Cloud said in particular that her boss had hugged and massaged her while making rude and suggestive comments. Tesla and other defendants subjected her to “a hostile work environment as a result of animosity toward her gender and sexual harassment,” the lawsuit says.

The harassment reportedly continued outside of work. In fact, he is now reportedly facing retaliation from other directors after complaining to Tesla’s human resources team. On Apple’s side, the American giant had also fired an engineer who complained of sexual harassment and intimidation.

Another alleged victim of harassment had already filed a complaint a few weeks ago

The Erica Cloud allegations come just weeks after Jessica Barraza, a production associate, took legal action against the electric vehicle maker, alleging “pervasive sexual harassment” and “nightmare conditions” within the company.

According to her complaint, Jessica Barraza has faced multiple instances of harassment, including a co-worker who grabbed her around the waist, pressed her chest under her breasts, and then placed her next to him. Another incident allegedly involved a colleague who allegedly slipped his leg between her thighs. In an interview with the Washington Post, the producing associate said her co-workers often made obscene comments to her as well.

For now, Tesla has not officially reacted to these two accusations. These aren’t the only complaints the American automaker has received in recent months. The previous month, a court ordered Tesla to pay nearly $ 137 million after a federal court ruled that an employee at the Fremont plant was racially harassed, but Tesla appealed the ruling. Meanwhile, other employees also accuse the automaker of lying by faking its autopilot demonstration.
