Suikoden won a special place and was very popular with fans of the RPG genre and users of the first PlayStation. The Konami franchise was well received in its day, but its success faded after the release of the fifth installment and several spin-offs.

Despite this, his legacy lives on and Yoshitaka Murayama, creator of the franchise, is still part of the industry. The designer is currently working on a spiritual successor to Suikoden called the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

His project is on the right track, so he recently spoke about it. Murayama took the opportunity to briefly mention Suikoden and reveal that he would like to work with the franchise again.

Yoshitaka Murayama is ready to work at Suikoden again

During an interview with Nintendo Everything, Murayama spoke about Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and the benefits of working independently on your own IP. The creator said he and his team are currently focused on making their new project come true.

“Suikoden was a game I was very lucky to work on. I will always love this series but it’s not something that I really own or control when Eiyuden can be 100% mine, ”said the creator.

His relationship with Suikoden is solid, so the developer has agreed that he would be willing to return to the franchise and work on a new installment if that is possible at some point.

“Of course, I would be more than happy to work on another Suikoden game if the opportunity arose in the future. However, for now, I want to focus on the Eiyuden Chronicle as the next chapter in my life, ”the creator added.

The reality is that it seems unlikely that a new Suikoden installment will ever be developed. Most of the latest spinoffs were exclusive to Japan; However, fans aren’t giving up hope that the RPG series will return in the future.
