Culture news The Division: the film scheduled for Netflix changes director
Announced in 2016 and scheduled since 2019 to be broadcast on Netflix, the film adaptation of The Division is currently still in the works and has just changed directors, the previous one no longer being able to continue due to its schedule.
Very discreet since its announcement more than five years ago, Ubisoft’s The Division game series film is still in production despite the little news he gives. While it was originally intended to be directed by David Leitch, we learn last week on the site Deadline that the latter had to give up to his role as director on the project to go on Bullet train, another action film, but remains a producer. David Leitch is used to this kind of films since he had notably co-directed John wick in 2014, then made alone Atomic Blonde in 2017, Deadpool 2 in 2018 and finally Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw in 2019.
So, so it is Rawson Marshall Thurber who replaces him, the latter also being known for having made films with The Rock such as Almost Secret Agents in 2016, Skyscraper in 2018 or again Red Notice, an action film planned on Netflix for this year still with Dwayne Johnson but also Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. As a reminder, the film adaptation of The Division is also entitled to a cast of choice since Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal appear there, the latter being also producers of the film.
The Division movie still has no release date but will be available on Netflix.
