He pointed out the two types of control operations carried out by the company in order to detect possible fraudsters who will then be brought to justice. These are controls that are carried out from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with special emphasis on homes and those that are carried out 24 hours a day, aimed at electrical installations that supply professionals, in particular owners of bar-restaurants, hotels and other pharmacies.
Mr. Yéo asked the population to immediately remove the tampered water and electricity meters from their homes, explaining that the issue of electrical fraud is not necessarily linked to the cost of the subscription but to the bad habits acquired throughout the years. years.
Last month, 18 suspected electricity scammers were arrested in Koun-Fao and Sandégué by the Gendarmerie and later released after paying their various electricity bills. These actions were part of a vast control operation initiated by the CIE.
According to the code, any electricity fraudster on his own account is punished with imprisonment of one to five years and a fine of 10 to 50 million CFA francs, while whoever acts on behalf of a third party is sentenced to death. imprisonment with a fine of 20 to 100 million CFA francs.
