At the end of September, the video on demand market posted 1.1 billion euros in revenue, up 41.4% compared to 2019. The various trends observed since the start of containment are confirmed: the TVOD increased by 4.8% and that of EST by 23.4%. The SVOD market continues to grow wildly at + 50.3% compared to the first three quarters of 2019 to reach 909.5 million euros.
SVOD confirms its domination of the video market, representing 82.4% of total revenue at the end of September.
The daily number of SVOD users is 4.5 million in September compared to 5.1 million in August. Finally, 22.9% of Internet users declare having viewed a program in SVOD (+2.5 points compared to September 2019), 9.9% declare having viewed a rental program (-1.1 point) and 5.8% having bought one (-0.3 point).
Netflix continues to dominate the SVOD market: in September 2020, 68.4% of consumers said they had viewed a program on Netflix (+11.8 points compared to September 2019). Amazon Prime Video retains the second position with 29.1% of consumers and Disney + consolidates its third place with 19.6% 6 months after its launch.
If we aggregate the figures for the physical video and VOD market, the market reached 1.29 billion euros in revenue at the end of the third quarter. Extrapolating to the end of 2020, the total video market could reach 1.85 billion euros in revenue, a record figure.
