The iPhone Mini models were introduced to the updated Apple Store a few days before the launch of the larger iPhone 14 series.

For the first time in weeks, Apple has added a range of iPhone 12 mini models to its refurbished and bought back store just days before the smaller form factor was dropped from Apple’s flagship smartphone lineup.

For the upcoming iPhone 14 series, Apple is reportedly ditching the 5.4-inch “mini” iPhone size in favor of larger device sizes. Available options are expected to include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The 5.4-inch iPhone “mini” was originally introduced in 2020 with the release of the iPhone 12 mini, which was met with much fanfare due to its compact size. The iPhone 13 mini followed last year, and it’s a fairly gradual upgrade. Apple still sells both models on the store’s homepage, but despite the apparent popularity of small devices among enthusiasts, Apple decided the form factor was “Not Popular Enough” to make a new iteration for the third year in a row.

It remains to be seen if Apple decides to continue offering all new iPhone mini models after the launch of its flagship next-generation iPhone 14 series, and given that its next model is yet to be listed. , the availability of refurbished iPhones is likely to be. The mini device 12 is noteworthy for consumers who prefer a smaller size.

Apple began selling refurbished and certified iPhone 12 mini‌ devices in July this year – 21 months after its original launch – but demand has made access difficult in recent weeks after it was announced its imminent demise in Apple’s new flagship lineup.

The iPhone 12 mini offers the same features as the ‌iPhone 12‌ but with a more compact design, 5.4-inch screen and 15 hours of video playback time, while the ‌iPhone 13‌ mini upgrades to the ‌iPhone 12‌ mini mostly repeated, delivering improvements in terms of greater display brightness, reduced notch, performance improvements, and new camera software features.

The biggest upgrades include camera hardware and longer battery life, but on the face of it, that probably won’t be enough to justify getting the new iPhone.12 model for most customers.

iPhone 12 mini models are now available from the Apple Refurb Store starting at $529 for the 64GB version (save $100) and from $659 for the 256GB version (save $120).

Refurbished iPhones are unlocked and do not have a SIM card. All refurbished iPhones come with a new battery, a new outer shell, a new white box with all manuals, and a USB-C to Lightning cable. All refurbished iPhones are covered by Apple’s standard one-year warranty and are eligible for extended AppleCare+ coverage.

Apple claims that refurbished iPhones have been extensively tested and cleaned and are virtually indistinguishable from brand new iPhones in our opinion. One of the only notable differences from a certified refurbished iPhone‌ is that it comes in a simpler box.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14 series at its Far Out media event on Wednesday, September 7th. Check out our guide to everything we can expect to see at the next Apple event, be sure to check out MacRumors over the next week for full, minute-by-minute coverage of all the big events.
