According to GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, The Last of Us remake is aimed at the 2022 holiday release window. “I keep hearing that it’s coming out this year,” Grubb said during an episode of Kinda Funny.Gamescast. A 2021 Bloomberg report says Sony’s visual arts service group in San Diego has begun development on a remake of The Last of Us.
At this time, Naughty Dog was busy finishing The Last of Us 2. After the release of the sequel, it seems that Naughty Dog has taken over the development of The Last of Us Remake. If true, this will be Naughty Dog’s first PS5 game.

Rumor has it that The Last of Us Remake will only be released for the next generation. Naughty Dog has a history of releasing some of the most impressive and visually polished AAA titles, so it’s interesting to see how Naughty Dog’s PS5 console-exclusive project will look like.
Presumably, The Last of Us Remake will eventually come to PC. PlayStation has made clear its plans to release PC ports of its own games with recent and upcoming releases such as Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Uncharted – Legacy of Thieves Collection.
Given the popularity of The Last of Us IP in general, coupled with the upcoming The Last of Us series, not releasing The Last of Us Remake on PC would be a missed opportunity, something PlayStation probably wouldn’t want. That’s all you need to know about The Last of Us remake rumors.
