THE LAST OF US series adapted from a video game on Amazon Prime – Freakin Geek

After the complete failure of the film adaptation of the game Uncharted from the same studio, we are waiting with great apprehension for this series from The Last Of Us, which is already declared as less violent than a video game. What’s encouraging is that game creator Neil Druckmann himself is overseeing the adaptation after he blocked development of a film adaptation created by Sam Raimi for Sony in 2016. Here he teams up with Craig Mazin, an award-winning creator. mini-series “Chernobyl”, already filmed by HBO. The first season will have nine episodes. The two showrunners each directed an episode, leaving Ali Abbassi (Frontier); Jeremy Webb (Umbrella Academy); Peter Hoare (“Da Vinci’s Demon”); Lisa Johnson (Elvis and Nixon) and Jasmila Zbanich (Sarajevo, Mon Amour) will take care of closing the rest. There should be sublime musical themes by Gustavo Santaolalla, but the music is also composed by David Flemming (“American Ode”). Let’s hope the awful cover of A-ha’s “Take On Me” that you can hear in the trailer doesn’t make it onto the show.

If since 2013 everyone has imagined the perfect cast for the film adaptation of The Last Of Us, then they were not chosen at all by those whom we could think of. For the role of young Ellie, the showrunners chose Bella Ramsey, best known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones. The role of Joel was entrusted to Pedro Pascal, who is clearly not too busy with his role in The Mandalorian, the third season of which, however, comes out in March. Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) will play his brother Tommy; Anna Torv (Fringe) will be Tess; Merle Dandridge reprises her role as Marlene from the game; Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) will play Bill; Storm Reid (Euphoria) will play Riley; Lamar Johnson (Your Honor) will be Henry, and Keyvonne Woodard will be his son Sam. The only real casting mistake, Joel’s daughter Sarah, is curiously vilified by Nico Parker, who played Tim Burton’s Dumbo.
