A new trailer for the fourth season of “Star Trek: Discovery” was released during the New York Comic Con panel on Saturday and we learned that a strange anomaly threatens the entire galaxy. Billions could be killed. Starfleet must unite and all must dig deep, face their own mortality, and risk their lives for the greater good.
That’s the setup for the next season of Discovery on the Paramount + streaming service.
If you’re thinking, “Wait, it sounds like the season 3 story arc …” then we agree, but instead of spontaneously burning dilithium, or even some evil artificial intelligence, this time it’s a gravity field. giant of some kind. The anomaly appears to be 5 light years across. (That’s more than three times the diameter of the solar system.) If that gets you excited about the new season, you might want to check out our Star Trek streaming guide so you don’t miss an episode.

There are some cool things to note from the trailer: you can see the character of David Cronenberg (Kovich), as well as Admiral Vance (Oded Fehr) and T’Rina (Tara Rosling), although she no longer appears to be president. . Among the many members of the Federation, we see an Orion, a Tellarite, and a Ferengi, which is cute. Saru wears a insignia of the rank of Captain and Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) wears the rank of Lieutenant.

And, of course, it seems that Burnham’s knuckles continue to be knocked over by impulsive decisions, this time by the new Federation president for the 32nd century, a Cardassian-Bajoran-Human hybrid played by Chelah Horsdal.
The New York Comic Con panel included Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), Executive Producer Michelle Paradise, Blu del Barrio (Adira), David Ajala (Cleveland Booker), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Culber), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly) and Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets).
Interestingly, Doug Jones wasn’t at NYCC this year… he was at a completely different scam, Big Texas Comic Con in San Antonio. Does this mean that Saru has a much smaller role to play in season 4? Sadly, Leeu, who plays the cat from Trek Grudge, was also not on the panel.
“I think I can speak for all the characters when I say that I don’t think any of us expected to have such a big threat so soon after jumping into this future. Because that was huge,” Sonequa Martin-Green said during the panel. “I know at least for Burnham, it’s a lot. Like, ‘here we are again with a threat of great, great magnitude.’ And of course these people in this story are the honorable people that they are, their true character comes out. the light in that moment of greatest pressure and beautiful things turn out as difficult as they can be. “
The fourth season of “Star Trek: Discovery” will debut on November 18 on Paramount +. Seasons 1-3 of “Star Trek: Discovery” are available to watch on Paramount + and a replay of the New York Comic Con panel is available here.
