The price of the Google Pixel Watch just went up – and it’s cheaper than the Apple Watch

We know there will be a Google Pixel Watch, but how much will you have to pay for it? According to a new rumor from 9to5Google (will open in a new tab), it can cost up to $399. Although this is for the LTE model, which will almost certainly be the more expensive of the two options.

It’s almost guaranteed that the Pixel Watch will come in two different forms, one with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and the other with LTE connectivity, which is pretty normal for smartwatches.

Unfortunately, 9to5Google hasn’t revealed how much the Bluetooth model will cost. However, since the Fitbit Sense 2, which lacks LTE connectivity, costs $299, we suspect the Bluetooth Pixel Watch will cost somewhere between that and $349.

Either way, $399 for the LTE model will put the Pixel Watch right between Apple and Samsung, the two main players in the smartwatch market right now. Apple Watch Series 7 prices start at $399, while LTE models start at $499. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 with LTE, meanwhile, starts at $329.

Of course, the actual intersection between people having to choose between the Pixel Watch and the Apple Watch will be pretty small. And Apple’s flagship products aren’t exactly known for their budget price tags. Instead, Google should be more concerned about Samsung, especially since the Galaxy Watch 5 runs Google’s Wear OS 3 software.

So what does the Pixel Watch have to offer to draw people in? Google has already confirmed that the watch will have Fitbit activity tracking, which will hopefully replace the paltry Google Fit app. There are also rumors that wearables will have the same health and fitness sensors. (will open in a new tab) the same as Fitbit Luxe and Fitbit Charge 5.

Speaking of hardware, the Pixel Watch is also rumored to come with 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. That’s more than other Wear OS smartwatches, but less than the Apple Watch 7. The battery is said to have a capacity of 300 mAh and will need to be charged daily, which is somewhat disappointing.

However, specifications and hardware are only part of the package. If anything Google needs to follow the example of Pixel smartphones and offer something you can’t get on other Wear OS watches – be it exclusive features or a different experience that Samsung and others can’t match.

The bigger question is when the Pixel Watch is likely to launch. Although it was announced at Google I/O back in May, Google has promised that the watch will be released alongside the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro “this fall.” release all three devices at the same time.

When that will be has yet to be officially announced, but it is said that Google may hold a Pixel 7 launch event on October 13th. Expect all of them to go on sale in the coming weeks.
