The Sims license has sold over 200 million copies worldwide, making it one of the ten best-selling books in history. So when EA announces on their blog that they want to make the fourth installment of their series free to play, the large player community is enthusiastic. This game was certainly released in 2014, but since then, according to EA, it has been joined by a fairly large amount of DLC (downloadable content), which amassed 33 million players in 2020.

The game will be available as a free download on PC and Mac via the EA app or Origin, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One starting October 18. Those who already own The Sims 4 won’t be left out as EA plans to offer them the Luxury in the Desert cosmetic DLC pack. It will be enough to connect to the game to restore it in the main menu. Attention, it will be necessary to act from September 14 to October 17.

The free date is not accidental. On October 18th, EA will be hosting a Behind The Sims Summit livestream featuring future plans and releases for The Sims 4. It will be streamed on The Sims YouTube and Twitch channels at 19:00 BST. A gift to players around the world that will also be used to communicate, calling into question the potential development of The Sims 5. The question is whether we have to wait for The Sims 4 10th Anniversary for it to arrive.
