The start-up Fenotek and the SME Noralsy connect their complementarities in intercom

With the Fenotek “Hi)” intercom, it is possible to answer anyone who rings the doorbell, even without being at home! Connected to the internet in wifi or 4G, equipped with a high definition camera and an integrated alarm, it informs of an expected visit (friends, delivery man, postman …) or feared (burglar) by connecting directly to the smartphone of its owner.

Imagined and designed by Fenotek, born in 2015 in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the device targets customers living in single-family homes. The 11-person start-up has mainly deployed it in the south but wanted to speed up the number of installations. In 2019, she started looking for a partner to support her financially and commercially. It was with Noralsy that she concluded.

Two complementary activities

This Chennevières / Marne (Val de Marne) SME has been designing, manufacturing (in France) and distributing since 1979 a range of intercom and access control equipment and systems which has earned it today 75 employees for a turnover of 10 million euros. It acquired 80% of Fenotek’s shares in order to implement a common strategy, first commercial, then industrial and R&D.

“Being together makes sense since Noralsy targets the collective residential or tertiary building market and we focus on individual housing. In addition, it is a company on a human scale that corresponds to what we were looking for. good timing to make this marriage a reality “, explains Bruno Davoine, co-founder and CEO of Fenotek, which began marketing its connected videophone “Hi)” in 2018, after presenting two successive prototypes at CES in Las Vegas. Production is carried out with BSE Electronics, based in Le Creusot (Saône-et-Loire).

Converging visions
“We were not in a competitive position, insists Emmanuel Lévy, president of Noralsy and now of Fenotek. The integration process will be accomplished gradually on our respective expertise. Almost a third of our workforce is made up of salespeople who cover the territory exhaustively. “

This force will be formed to promote Fenotek’s offer and increase its sales with the objective of multiplying them by five by 2023, reveals the manager. “Tens of thousands of villas are sold each year and can justify efficient access and security solutions, he continues. Hi) brings real added value. We are really on a convergence of market visions. The synergy on the supply chain will take place within three to six months, followed by R&D, which mobilizes around fifteen engineers. “

For Fenotek, the second half of 2020 was characterized by a strong increase in demand, according to its manager, who attributes it to the “refocusing” of the concerns of the French on improving their homes. This development is also an opportunity in the eyes of Emmanuel Lévy, convinced that Hi) will also facilitate the exercise of professional uses such as home services and care, coworking, temporary furnished rentals, etc.
