The Tesla Cyberquad is available! (but in an unexpected version) – Numerama

A few weeks before Christmas, Tesla pulled a Cyberquad out of its hood. Unfortunately, this is not the ambitious vehicle announced at the same time as the Cybertruck.

Last September, we learned that Tesla had trademarked the Cyberquad so that it could be used on toys and clothing. Now we understand why: the 100% electric quad with a futuristic design is back, but not necessarily in the way expected. As Electrek pointed out in an article published on December 1, there is a version of the vehicle for children. Soberly called Cyberquad for Kids, it’s available on Tesla’s US site for $ 1,900 (€ 1,680).

The Cyberquad for Kids is, therefore, a miniature version, and much less powerful, of the quad associated with the Cybertruck. We found this angular design straight out of a sci-fi movie. The toy is equipped with a steel frame, a padded seat, an adjustable suspension and an LED light bar (it is immediately more serious than a vulgar hiss). It is designed for children ages 8 and up. This Cyberquad for Kids is developed in association with Radio Flyer, which already markets mini Tesla for children.

Will you be able to travel with Cybertruck for Kids?

In its FAQ, Tesla specifies that the Cybertruck for children is clearly not suitable for adults in the sense that it will not support a weight greater than 68 kilograms. And even if you are lightweight, the dimensions of the vehicle are still small: 119 x 66 x 68 centimeters.

The Cyberquad for Kids can ride like the real thing. It is powered by a removable battery that gives it a range of approximately 15 miles (a figure that depends on the weight of the young rider, the track conditions and speed). Recharges in five hours.

The toy has three speed levels:

  • Parameter 1: 8km / h top speed
  • Parameter 2: 16km / h top speed
  • Reverse gear: 8 km / h maximum

Franz von Holzhausen, in charge of the design (and famous for the glitch during the Cybertruck lunar unveiling), showed what the vehicle looks like in a tweet posted on December 2. Obviously the kids are having a good time:

Please note that the Cyberquad for Kids does not arrive complete. It must be assembled according to the assembly instructions. For example, it will be necessary to install all four wheels, fix the handlebar or even attach the suspension. Instructions are available at this address.

Interestingly, while this may be the perfect Christmas gift for a child of wealthy parents, Tesla does not guarantee delivery in time for the holiday season. Shipments will begin within 2-4 weeks, knowing that the Cyberquad for Kids is currently reserved for the US market (excluding Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico).
