COVID-19

The withdrawal of the vaccine against Covid-19, for whom, when and how?

When to withdraw the vaccine against Covid-19? What should people who have been infected with the virus plan? What about children and adolescents? 20 Minutes takes stock of how to navigate after Thursday’s announcements.

I am between 18 and 64 years old:

The booster, which is usually a third dose, will be possible from Saturday, with an interval of at least 5 months after the last injection. As of January 15, the booster dose will be mandatory for the health pass to remain valid.

This does not mean that the injection must have necessarily been carried out before this date, which simply corresponds to the entry into force of the mechanism: as of January 15, the pass of these people will be deactivated if they have not had their maximum booster dose. . 7 months after the last injection.

For example, someone who received their second dose on July 1 may have their third from December 1, and will necessarily have to do so before February 1, 2022 to maintain their health pass.

I am over 65 years old:

The retreat has been open since September. The only change is that now it can be done 5 months after the last injection, and no longer 6. As for people from 18 to 64 years old, this reminder will be mandatory to extend the health pass, but it will take effect for one month before. December 15 instead of January 15.

It is exactly the same case for people with a higher risk of suffering from a severe form of Covid-19. These are people with certain pathologies listed in an official list (heart failure, history of stroke, chronic kidney failure, obesity, cancer, etc.).

I am between 12 and 17 years old:

For this age group, nothing changes. You can get vaccinated, but the booster dose does not affect you at this stage.

I am between 0 and 11 years old:

Children of this age cannot be vaccinated against the coronavirus in France. However, this could eventually be the case for children ages 5 to 11 after the approval of Pfizer’s vaccine for this age group by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Thursday.

“This vaccination, if it were decided in France, would not begin before the beginning of the year 2022,” said Health Minister Olivier Véran on Thursday, who asked the High Health Authority (HAS) and the National for their opinion. Ethics Committee (CCNE). According to him, this period corresponds to the time needed to stock up on vaccines for children, which are less concentrated than those for adults.

I had the Covid after being fully vaccinated:

The authorities recommend in this case that an additional dose of vaccine be injected five months after infection and not 5 months after the previous dose.

This scenario will play out more and more as the effectiveness of the two doses of the infection vaccine diminishes over time (which is why the booster dose was extended to all adults on Thursday).

I had the Covid between the two doses of the vaccine:

Again, the second dose must be injected five months after infection. This recommendation “is valid regardless of age and time of onset of infection after the first dose”, according to the HAS.
