There is no third dose of vaccine for people under 65, at least for now

“Belgium participates in the large European Commission contract for 900 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine,” confirms a spokesman for the Federal Minister of Public Health, Frank Vandenbroucke. In this context, we have reserved our part for 2022 and 2023 in order to be sure that we can then vaccinate if necessary ”.

The Vaccination Working Group follows the results of scientific studies and will notify whether a third dose or possibly a fourth dose of vaccine is recommended for other population groups. Currently, a third dose is recommended only for people 65 and older and people with certain medical conditions.

“It will be like the flu vaccine, where you may not protect your risk groups every year but every two years,” said virologist Marc Van Ranst (KU Leuven).
